Our Guelph-Wellington Community Health Van
For many years, our agencies have worked with people who have, or who are at-risk of, Hepatitis C, and HIV.
While doing this work, we recognized one really important fact: people can’t focus on their health if they have other, bigger, important needs.
There are many agencies in the Wellington county doing incredible work to meet those needs – but for people who aren’t already engaged with those agencies, or who experience barriers to accessing those services, things are much harder.
The Van will bring more of these necessary services to individuals in their own communities. Since 2015 our agency has operated a Community Health Van in Waterloo Region and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. People are thrilled to see us each week and they continue to spread the word. We know that when we reduce the barriers that stand between people and good health every member of our community benefits.
In October of 2016, we were able to launch the Guelph-Wellington Community Health Van in Wellington Region!! Through a two year Trillium grant we are able to provide Mobile services as the lead agency in Wellington region with partners HIV/AIDS Resources & Community Health (ARCH) & Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
We have had over 1,500 visits to the van since our launch in October and we are so happy about it!
